yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of the bonfire collapse. a very sad day for so many reasons...#1 being that so many kids lost their lives that day. i can't even imagine how those parents are feeling and hope i never know. my heart goes out to them, b/c i know that i rarely think about bonfire, and they probably don't have a day go by without thinking about it!

bonfire is one of my most favorite memories of aggieland...and i have A LOT of good ones!! this is one tradition i would have loved to share with my kids. there's still time...maybe it's time to ...bring back the stack!!!

Hey, Little Fella...

so, shane & i had a date last night...we went to dinner then did some serious Christmas shopping! thankfully, he doesn't make me wait until christmas to get my gifts. (but i'm pretty sure he'll be wrapping the empty boxes so that i'm reminded of them!! :) anyway, i got this cute, little guy! i didn't even know these mini-laptops existed, now i'm the proud owner of one!! i wish you could see the detail on the top, well, other than my reflection, it's so cute!! and since i'm not such a great photographer (although i was the photographer for the BMS yearbook staff) he got me a better camera!! which is why the pics are sideways. i haven't learned to use it just yet!! kel, you'll have to give me a tutorial!! so...MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!!

Today didn’t go quite as planned. But what else would you expect from our adventure. We were supposed to get the children this morning. However, that has been delayed until Thursday morning. There are some issues with Nardos’s TB tests. She is having to undergo more tests that require sticking a tube down her nose every night that she has to sleep in. The Gladney staff would rather her not associate this trauma with us. There is a small chance we will have to delay our return waiting on test results. We had a couple of meetings with doctors today and it now seems that the decision rests with the American Embassy on Thursday.
On a brighter note, we were able to go the foster care center and meet Nardos and Nahom. It was an incredible experience. They are so beautiful. When they were brought outside to meet us, Nardos came running into my (Stacey) arms. She hugged me so tightly and didn’t want to let go. Nahom then followed suit, not wanting to be left out, and ran to Paul. They were full of smiles and sweet kisses. We just basked in their presence. We played outside on the lawn for about an hour and then went to see the other children. Our driver then explained to them that we would be back in the morning. Hopefully we will get to spend the entire day with them tomorrow before taking them back in the evening for her procedure.

how are we friends?? i can think of about 1.2 billion things that i would do before doing this: kel, i'm proud to call you friend!! i don't even want to know all of the places you had to clean the mud out of!!!!

This Kid is Funny!!

one of the best parts about this school year, is getting to see this guy during the day!! i love hearing him say, "hello, mrs. ro-then-bur-ger!!" (oh my...i just realized i spelled my name wrong!!!!) anyway, the other day, he was hanging out with me after school and he said, "Neesie, you know who doesn't get any Christmas presents?" ummm...no. "Santa!!" "You know who else doesn't get any presents??" "God!!" ohhhh. well, you know when we obey & pray & blah, blah, blah...that's God's present. "Ummm, yeah, ok. Oh wait, Santa is God's present!!!" of course, what was i thinking!! (obviously, he doesn't realize that santa also spells "satan"!!:)

I heart THE OFFICE!!

After spending the evening being creeped out by some seriously scary adults at our Harvest Fest last night, (really?? they feel the need to scare children and me at our church???) I decided I needed me some "Jim & Michael" to erase those memories!! Although, it was one of the most akward episodes ever...the whole Andy & Pam thing...I laughed out loud several times!! maybe you've heard of the social networking site...BOOKFACE!!! :) hey, i asked for a list!! kids, suicide is never the answer...why does Christmas have to be the only holiday with a message?? :) Andy said something really funny at the end...but i can't remember what it was??!! I was totally going to remember...

She is studying Egypt and is going to mummify a chicken! I'm pretty sure she is telling everyone she meets, so if you are easily grossed out...she loves detail...you might want to avoid her!!
